Director Strategic Pricing

Your tasks and responsibilities

The incumbent for the role of Strategic Pricing Director is responsible for delivering the value associated with already identified pricing opportunities as well as following through on expanding to other markets and categories, always delivering the value of identified opportunities through establishing contracts with relevant stakeholders. He/She stablishes the capabilities to deliver insightful and effective pricing, while building the capabilities within the category teams and local markets to deliver the associated analytics and associated opportunities. Delivers changes in relevant systems, maintains capability at “best in class” level and influences leadership. The scope of the role is “end to end” across the value chain, meaning from Manufacturer Recommended Pricing down to Net Selling Price and encompasses base as well as promoted and effective demand partition coverage and innovation.

He/She leads pricing strategy development and deployment impacting pack pricing, portfolio, mix, promotions and trade investments in close collaboration with the CMO functions. The role is responsible to develop effective pricing strategies, propose pricing planning and advice on execution leading to value creation and increased markets shares. In addition, is a trusted partner to the markets when it comes to implementing price changes to deliver the strategy. Main tasks are:


  • Delivers value on identified pricing opportunities and creates incremental through working on additional brand market intersections in collaboration with Global Category Business Units (GCBUs).
  • Develops and oversees governance of cross market and channel pricing including analytics and reporting
  • Builds, rolls out pricing capabilities to central and local teams. Establishes pricing nomenclature, analytics and pricing reporting as well as integrates pricing into GCBUs ways of working.
  • Supports markets in identifying pricing opportunities and potential value dilution, as well as co-creates relevant solutions
  • Leads strategic development and deployment in the areas of pricing, portfolio management and promotions, maintains “best in class” approach and collaborates with markets and CMO functions where applicable to deliver holistic solutions to business challenges
  • Leads the development of Price Pack Architecture structures across the GCBUs for the markets represented in the Global Category Teams (GCT)
  • Supports the effort on enabling informed decision making through the development and deployment of IT-enabled tools & systems related to Net Revenue Management (NRM) and the OM improvements 

Who you are

  • Postgraduate university degree or equivalent qualification in finance, science or engineering (ideally highly numerical field including modelling)
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience
  • Proven record of following through and delivery of tangible value on pricing projects. Ideally across multiple categories
  • Experience in marketing strategy roles as well as sales and finance roles (CFO reporting) for at least 5 years
  • Strategic thinker, able to identify matters of importance and timely act
  • Experienced in working in Teams, contributing to team efforts and considering overall team deliverables. Ability to work in multicultural environments
  • Recognized as an accomplished functional expert in Pricing, portfolio management and Promotional optimization
  • Excellent networking, consensual and conflict management skills. Ability to navigate complex issues
  • Demonstrated big data analysis capability coupled with proven ability to synthesize hypotheses, validate, develop action plans and follow through to capture value
  • Proven understanding of P&Ls, financial shaping and value leadership
  • Strives for achievement through rigorous implementation and extraordinary ability to follow through and deliver
  • c.a. 30% frequent travel will be expected
  • Fluent in English, additional languages advantageous
